The 110th anniversary of the poet Avrom Sutzkever

July 15, 2023 is the 110th anniversary of the birth of Avrom Sutzkever. One of the most remarkable Yiddish poets in the second half of the 20th century, Sutzkever won the Israel Prize and the Itzik Manger Prize for literary work in Yiddish. He died in Tel Aviv in 2010.

Sutzkever said: "A Yiddish poet should bring in his poetry the healing beauty that gives strength to live. A beauty that is at the same time a love for all that is true and sublime, which together with Spinoza's intellectual love for God is the intellectual love for man, for the Jew and for the Jewish people".
